Who Am I ?
I am Fred the Ship's Mouse, aka
Freya Tarttelin, who
is married to a Lorcan look alike with two kids. When
not trying to make a website from scratch, I am a full
time mother who will probably be returning back to
work when my second starts school full time.
This website is not designed to
replace The Nocturn, the Vampirates fan website, but
to teach me how to do a website from scratch, through
publishing, to being a completed website visible to
the public. If you are reading this then I have
succeeded. I must admit to being a bit of a magpie
collecting almost all my images from the internet.
Things, like the Squeak page, I really had to get
helped with.

You may wonder why an adult enjoys
teen fiction so much. Well I am dyslexic and I did not
learn to read until a teacher called Mrs Warren really
worked on it when I was nine. At senior school you
could have counted the number of books I read from
cover to cover on one hand. Sadly none of those were
required reading. They say children change your life,
well they definitely turn it upside-down and make you
reevaluate things. When my son was eighteen months I
realised it was ridiculous to be scared of reading and
forced myself to read 0-3 age stories to him, then
with the help of the library and book magazines like
Red House and the Book People, I slowly went up the
ages relearning how to read. When I got to teen
fiction I found that was my level of reading and
understanding. The outcome on my kids? Well both love
books and at the beginning of year 1 my son had a
reading age of nine!

I would like to thank my friends
and family for putting up with me while building this
website. Especially those willing to stay up past
midnight or dress up and wave a broad sword around.
If you good at picking up clues
and proof reading, and do see any errors or omissions,
please don't sit and fume, I probably have not noticed
them. Please tell me on the Squeak page. I am working
on the Characters and Timeline pages at the moment,
but don't assume I have just not got to that part, I
may have missed things.
